The best student projects involve real, relevant problems and collaboration with an industrial client. To suggest or sponsor a project contact the multidisciplinary design chair, Jim Heise, the full team at or fill out the project idea form

Review panel membership

The Multidisciplinary Design Industrial Review Panel reviews student designs and projects at the planning stage and at the end of each semester. Membership involves a time commitment of approximately 6 hours per semester, plus any contribution advising student team as an outside client. If you are interested in participating in the review panel please contact Jim Heise or the full program team at


Mid-term presentations are usually held in the evening around week 6 or 7 of the semester (early to mid-October or mid to late February); final presentations are held during week 15 of classes (around the first week of December or last week of April).

The Spring 2012 final presentations will be Tuesday, April 24, 2012 starting at 6:00pm CDT in 144 Howe . You may attend in person or by internet videoconference.

In addition to Final Presentations the teams will be displayed as a part of the Mechanical Engineering Department's Spring Design Expo in the Howe Hall Atrium from 12:00pm to 4:00pm on April 24, 2012. (Open to the public)
